Kolonaki

Piraeus, the third largest Mediterranean port is the gateway from Athens to the islands. Although harmoniously joined with the city of Athens, Piraeus is a very different place and a wonderful area. The most special parts to visit are Kastella Hill and Mikrolimano. Kastella, a picturesque residential area with steep streets and stairways (a great area to explore on foot), is built into the hillside of Profitis Elias Church and overlooks Mikrolimano, which means 'small port'. Mikrolimano is a pleasant harbour famous for its excellent fresh fish restaurants found by the seaside. Small bars overlook the harbour and are usually crowded, especially during the summer months.

Kolonaki is situated at an exclusive location, encompassed by Syntagma Square, Vassilisis Sofias Avenue, and the slopes of Lycabettus Hill. Posh Kolonaki is home to ambassadors, actors, writers and aristocracy. Here one is surrounded by all those Greek people who would love to be in the newspapers and magazines. It is the prime location for shopping, people-watching and glamorous cafe-sitting. Here you will find all the exclusive shops, popular cafes, chic bars and luxury restaurants. Stroll around Voukourestiou Str and the surrounding area, Skoufa St, Patriarchou Ioakim St, Anagnnostopoullou St, Haritonos St and the Lykabettos circular.
