Description

Exarchia Underground Tour – Anarchy stories, street soul and local secrets *With a bouzouki in hand and a rebel heart* Explore Athens beyond the postcards – through the raw, artistic, and untamed soul of Exarchia. This is not a typical tour. It’s a walk through resistance, poetry, and underground culture – guided by a local who lives and breathes the area. We’ll start in the center and move toward Exarchia, a neighborhood known for its anarchist roots, street art, and political expression. You'll hear the story of Alexandros Grigoropoulos at the memorial, walk through colorful streets full of graffiti, and learn about local heroes like Nikolas Asimos, Panos Sidiropoulos, and Katerina Gogou – icons of Greek counterculture. We’ll pass by the Exarchia Square, now hidden behind metal fences and still full of spirit, stroll through the local farmers’ market on Kallidromiou Street, and end at the top of Strefi Hill – with a panoramic view of the city and a taste of music from my baglamas, the tiny Greek bouzouki that carries centuries of rebellion and soul. This is a tour for those who want to feel the **real, raw Athens**. Come as you are – no filters, no clichés. This experience is not an official guided tour. I am not a licensed tour guide. What I offer is a personal walk and storytelling through the area, based on my own experiences, local knowledge, and passion for the neighborhood. Find us on Instagram: exarcheia_tour
