Description
There are food tours, and then there are meals you'll be talking about for years. This is the second kind. Over 3.5 hours, your small group moves through Monastiraki and Psiri, two neighborhoods that have been loud, colorful, and feeding people for centuries, on a tour that earns its name. Every stop is a family business. Every tasting has a story. And one of them hands you an apron.
You'll start somewhere unexpected: a tucked-away café where Greek coffee is made properly and explained fully, alongside a spoon sweet that's been made the same way for generations. From there, you'll try handmade pies hot from the oven, both sweet and savory, from one of the few remaining bakeries in central Athens still making everything from scratch.
Then the moment people keep coming back for - you'll roll your own souvlaki at a grill house where the meat is prepped in-house and the locals don't need a menu. A proper cheese and cold cuts board follows, paired the way your ancestors intended, with ouzo on the side.
The group stays small so your guide can actually tell you things - about the city, the food, the people who make it. No microphone required.
