Discover the ancient ruins of Delphi and the monasteries of Meteora on a 2-day tour from Athens. Visit the ancient ruins and museum of Delphi, and see the monasteries of Meteora, perched on top of huge rock formations.
Day 1: Athens-Delphi-Meteora
Meet in Chinatown at 9:00 AM and drive all the way to Meteora, the Sky City. Pass through the towns of Levadja and Arachova on the way to check in the filming location of 'Descendants of the Sun'. After lunch, go to Delphi to visit the ancient ruins and museum of Delphi. Delphi is one of the most popular ancient sites in Greece.
Located on a hilltop overlooking a valley of olive groves, Delphi is a famous oracle in ancient times. People from all over the Mediterranean would come here to seek the prophecies of the god Apollo. Overnight in Kalambaka or a nearby town.
Day 2: Meteora-Athens
After breakfast, go up to the sky and visit the Sky City. This spectacular place is listed as a World Heritage Site. The famous monasteries date back to the Byzantine era and are located on top of huge rock formations. The breathtaking natural landscape was formed about 60 million years ago.
There used to be hundreds of monasteries and churches in Meteora, but today only 6 remain. It is recommended to visit 2 monasteries. Return to Athens before 7:00 PM.
