During this interactive workshop, learn the fundamental principles of stop motion animation while creating your own short animated film inspired by one of Greece's most fascinating ancient myths. Before you begin animating, be introduced to a carefully selected myth, such as Theseus and the Minotaur, Persephone, Daedalus and Icarus, or Perseus and Medusa. Through storytelling and beautiful visual references, discover the symbolism and timeless themes behind these legendary tales.
Next, design your own characters and backgrounds using colorful paper, markers, scissors, and a variety of craft materials. Whether you prefer drawing, cutting, or arranging shapes, express your creativity while learning the artistic process behind animated filmmaking.
Once your scene is ready, it's time to animate. Discover the secrets of stop motion, including how movement is created frame by frame, how to compose a shot, control lighting, and create smooth animation using professional yet beginner-friendly techniques. With guidance throughout every step, capture photographs, move your characters little by little, and watch your story magically come to life.
After filming, learn the basics of editing your animation by adding movement, simple effects, music, and sound.
