Description

Begin your journey with a scenic drive along the Saronic Gulf to Ancient Corinth, one of the most important city-states of antiquity and a place deeply connected with Apostle Paul’s ministry. Explore the Temple of Apollo, the Agora, and the Bema of St. Paul. Marvel at the Corinth Canal, a feat of engineering connecting the Aegean and Ionian Seas. Continue to the UNESCO site of Mycenae, the center of the Mycenaean civilization. Walk through the Lion Gate, one of the oldest monumental sculptures in Europe, and admire the Cyclopean Walls. Visit the Royal Tombs and the Treasury of Atreus, and learn about the powerful Bronze Age empire that shaped Greek history. Next, visit Epidaurus, the sacred healing center of the ancient world. Discover the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, famous for its perfect acoustics, and the Sanctuary of Asclepius, the god of medicine. Arrive in Nafplion, the first capital of modern Greece. Enjoy free time to stroll its narrow Venetian-style streets, admire the Palamidi Fortress, and enjoy dinner by the sea. Spend the night in Nafplion. On day two, depart Nafplion for Sparta, the iconic city-state known for its military strength and disciplined society. Visit the King Leonidas Monument, the Acropolis of Sparta, and the Olive Oil Museum (optional but highly recommended). Your guide will share insights into the Spartan way of life, their values, and their lasting impact on Western culture. Continue to the UNESCO-listed medieval town of Mystras, a spectacular hillside citadel above Sparta. Explore the Palace of the Despots, beautiful Byzantine churches with well-preserved frescoes, and the monastic complexes offering panoramic views of the Laconian Valley. Mystras is considered the last stronghold of the Byzantine Empire before the fall of Constantinople. Drive onward to the dramatic rock-fortress island of Monemvasia, often called the “Gibraltar of the East.” Wander through the walled medieval town, the Upper City with its fortress ruins, and the Church of Agia Sofia perched above the sea. Enjoy a relaxing evening in one of Greece’s most atmospheric towns. Spend the night in Monemvasia. On the final day, enjoy free time for photos or a last walk through the Old Town before returning to Athens. Your route will take you through the dramatic Peloponnese countryside, offering beautiful mountain and coastal views. Your driver will make comfort stops and optional photo spots along the way. Arrive in Athens in the afternoon, where your private tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
