You are just a few clicks away from witnessing the captivating view and the gorgeous landscape that the gigantic rocks of Meteora have to offer! Located in the region of Thessaly, right in the center of Greece, embark on a journey to discover the 6 active and accessible monasteries, visit 3 of them to get a glimpse of the old frescoes and the Christian architecture and get a taste of why thousands of people consider Meteora one of the most magnificent places to be! Last but not least important, witness the hermit caves and their purpose in the past, which are the things that played a vital role for a long time, alongside with designated photo stops that will make sure you get the complete experience for the unique tour throughout the stone forest of Meteora! Start from Larissa Station, the central train station of Athens, where you will board the train that will take you to Kalambaka. The train departs at 06:58 AM. At approximately 09:45 AM, the train will stop at Paleofarsalos, where you will need to get off and take the connecting bus that will continue the journey to Kalambaka. In the front window of the bus you will see a sign with the name HELLENIC TRAIN. Upon arrival at the Kalambaka train station you will meet your tour guide who will be holding a sign with your name on it. Please note that your transfer from Athens (Larisis railway station) to Palaiofarsalos railway station is by train, but from Palaiofarsalos to Kalambaka the transfer is temporarily by an elevated air-conditioned bus of Hellenic Train. Throughout the tour, there will also be an optional food break of about 30 minutes where you can enjoy traditional greek food, before continuing the road to the monasteries. Finally, the tour ends around 4:45, you will have a break of 10 minutes before your bus arrives at the train station and your day ends around 22:00 with your return to Athens.

Important Information

  • Your train/bus e-tickets will be sent to you via email approximately 24 hours before your travel date. If you have not received your train tickets please contact us. You will not be able to travel by train. The transport from Athens railway station to Palefarsalos railway station is by train but from Paleofarsalos to Kalambaka is temporalily done by elevated air-conditioned bus. The reason is that train has stopped operating due to the devastating floods in the region of Thessaly. However , the itineraries and stops of this tour remain unaffected so you can enjoy this activity with confidence. Babies up to 3 years old are free to join if they can share a seat with their parents.
