Description

Your private shore tour driver will pick you up at approx 08:00 at your cruise ship pier to keep away from traffic and crowd at the Acropolis. Take you for boarding in your present day four seaters, 10 seaters, or 17 seater vehicle, according to your institution length, leaving the quayside, for a 20-minute pressure to Athens through the scenic suburbs. Visit the robust Acropolis dominates the panorama to see the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Greece and the trademark of Athens. Visit at the top of the well-known hill, the Propylea (Entrance), the Erectheum, the Temple of Wingless Victory, and, of direction, the crowning glory of Athens, the incomparable Parthenon, the greatest monuments all instances. During our visit, we will be exploring the renowned Temple of Olympian Zeus, which is the largest Corinthian-style temple in ancient Greece, dating back to the 3rd century BC. Additionally, we will be passing by Hadrian’s Arch, a symbolic landmark that separates the old and new towns during the Roman era. Our sightseeing itinerary also includes visits to the National Gardens, National Library, Parliament Building, ex-Royal Palace, Plaka, Roman Agora, Monastiraki, and the Temple of Vulcan. As we make our way, there will be a brief photo opportunity at the ancient Olympic Stadium, originally built in the 4th century BC and rebuilt in 1894 to host the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. This stadium, made entirely of Pentelic marble, is of significant historical importance and is still used today for special events such as the finish of the marathon and archery competitions, including its usage during the 2004 Olympic Games. Let’s see the meat market, the fish market and the fruit market in Athens. Some small stores selling solely meat, fish or fruit. A Greek restaurant at lunchtime. Let us taste some Greek home-cooked food! In no time, we will get to the ancient city of Corinth, one of the most important cities in history renown for its “ill manners.” The richest town in Greece, ancient Corinth was erected at the foot of the celebrated Acrocorinth Hill (575 meters above sea level) which served as a strong acropolis or citadel in prehistoric times. Corinth is still visible on public buildings today and originates from there (Callimachus, 5th century BC). The long and very interesting ancient history of Corinth included St. Paul’s time (52 AD), who visited twice and established the Church of Corinth. While here, it’s worth visiting the Corinth Museum that has some amazing artifacts discovered in the ruins of ancient city. Some antiquities like Roman mosaics, and so on are available at the museum. To wrap up this one of Greece’s most fascinating private shore excursions, make sure you are back in time for lunch.
