Enoteca
Athens
A restaurant with a very comprehensive wine list, Enoteca is placed at the top of the restaurants offering a wide selection of wines right from the start.
Enoteca's philosophy is based on the fact that modern Greeks do not consider wine as a complementary drink to accompany your food and instead use drinks like beer, alcoholic beverages and various refreshments. The need to restore wine's prestige in Greece has led Mr. K. Touloumtzis to adopt a somewhat 'particular' attitude by which he asks his customers to select their preferred wine first, before choosing a main dish.
This philosophy has given Enoteca a very special character, which in combination with a series of activities aiming at the propagation of the wine culture among consumers has turned it into a point of reference for all wine aficionados.
Every Monday evening between 8pm and 10pm, Enoteca becomes a school where the basic principles of oenology (the art of wine tasting and the theory of food and wine matching) are taught.
On the first Thursday of each month there are wine-tasting events with fine wines from all over the world, including the legendary wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy regions, while wine-related conversations take place every evening between the owner and the customers.
Opening times:
October - May daily from 8.30pm (except Mondays)
