Local Picks - Things To Do in Athens

If you want to see Athens like someone who actually lives here, this is the place to start. Every activity and spot listed here is chosen by the Athens Local Expert team, people who walk these streets day to day, have tried these places for real, and don’t pick things based on algorithms or ads.

You’ll find recommendations that reflect the seasons, from relaxed spring mornings in Plaka’s quieter corners to lively summer evenings around Gazi. Don’t expect the usual tourist traps here. For example, locals recommend grabbing a coffee early at a small café in Koukaki before the heat kicks in, then taking a walk up to the Acropolis to enjoy a less crowded view. The picks get updated regularly, so you can trust they’re current and relevant. Athens is more than just monuments, soak in the everyday rhythms through these thoughtful local choices.
