Description
Follow our expertly trained licensed tour guides in a reveal of the antiquity. Little by little you will discover the top of the Acropolis Hill. Starting at the McDonalds near the Acropolis Metro Station (Areopagitou 7 & Makri 1, corner) you will soon enter the archaeological site and start the ascending way to the top of the hill as the sun slowly rises in the city. On the way up you will first come across the sanctuary and one of the very first theatres in the world, the theatre dedicated to Dionysos, the god of festivals, vines and theatre. Next up you will admire the remains of the sanctuary of Asclepius and Hygeia, the ancient hospital of Athens. You will stumble upon the Odeon of Herodes the Atticus, that still functions to this day and then you will find yourselves upon the Propylaea, the monumental gate leading to the top of the hill. The ruins of the three temples on top of the hill, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheum with the porch of the Caryatides in the distance and of course the Parthenon will slowly start taking shape before your eyes. The tour will climax at the Parthenon, the temple dedicated to the goddess Athena, the patron goddess of the city.Includes
Audio headsets will be provided to each individual. The tour is conducted in ENGLISH by a local licensed tour guide. Small group (max. 20 travelers) will ensure the direct contact with the guide. The tour will last appr. 2 (two) hours and will take place in the morning time (8 a.m.). Restrooms are available at the top of the Acropolis Hill. The tour only takes place in one archaeological site, the Acropolis Hill which includes the Parthenon, the Erechtheum, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Propylaea, the theatre of Dionysos and a view to the Odeon of Herodes the Atticus.Important Information
