Description

We will begin early in the day with a visit to the most recognized monument in the country, the Acropolis. A trip to the remote origins of Western culture. Our entrance to the enclosure will be made through the side door (south slope), with the intention of knowing the oldest theater in the world, Teatro de Dionisio and avoiding the crowds of the main access. Meet with your official guide, how Athene, goddess of wisdom, manages to be patron of the city after the dispute with Poseidon on the very top of the Acropolis. Go through the Propylaea, monumental entrance that served as a funnel against enemies and prepared the pilgrim emotional before reaching the Parthenon. See the marvelous Ionian jewel, Temple of Athena Nike, and the dazzling marble female columns, the Caryatids. Stop right in front of the Parthenon to learn about the real reasons why this impressive building was built 2,500 years ago, recognized worldwide for its harmony and architecture. From the top of the Acropolis, we will contemplate the Arch of Hadrian and the Temple of Zeus, the Odeon of Herod the Attic, building where the Athens festival is held today, the National Observatory, the hill of Lycabetus, Philopappos and Areopagus among others. After a short photo break, we will continue our tour of the Old Town and the Plaka neighborhood. We will pass outside the Ancient Agora with the best preserved temple in Athens, space where Socrates, Plato and Aristotle left their footprints. We will end our tour visiting the Tower of the Winds, considered the oldest meteorological observatory in the world, and the Mitropolis of Athens, the church where the marriage of Queen Sofía with Juan Carlos took place. We will have the opportunity to learn about the Orthodox religion that predominates among the population of the country.
