Description

Early morning pick-up from your hotel in Athens. Enjoy the sunrise above the Aegean Sea as you are embarking on the ferry that sails to Tinos. Our escort will assist locate your seats in the ferry. Feel free to walk from one lounge to the other where you will find snack bars selling beverages and delicious pastry for breakfast. Before noon you will have arrived in Tinos where you will start strolling in the paved streets of the Cycladic settlement. Walking among the picturesque shops, you will have the chance to buy traditional pastries like 'mandolato' or 'lukumi'. Try a piece of the sesame brittle, considered as one of the richest superfoods according to the ancient Greeks, which will fill you with extra energy! One of the highlights of the tour is the Monastery of Holy Mary (known as 'Panaghia') which is the important pilgrimage destination in Greece. Thousands of Christians swarm about on the 25 of March to celebrate the Annunciation. You may see pilgrims covering the distance from the port of Tinos to the church on their knees, in an attempt to fulfill a promise they made to God in exchange for a favor they had asked from him. Along that route, you will see the long red carpet, laid to protect those pilgrims from having their knees injured. Apart from the orthodox churches, Tinos is gull of Catholic ones as well, some of which you may visit during your walking tour. On the way back to the port, you will find plenty of little restaurants serving local dishes cooked with locally grown ingredients. Enjoy a tasty lunch and do not omit to sip a glass of the traditional 'ouzo' liquor. At 14:35 you will be on the ferry to Andros. You will arrive at 16.10 and your escort will lead you to the bus that will take you to the sandy beach, a few minutes away. You will have time to enjoy swimming in the crystal clear water of the island and sunbath, before departing for the cosmpolitan village 'Batsi'. You will have free time to explore the village, shop local products and soyvenirs, take photos in the picturesque lanes and enjoy dinner or a drink at sunset. At around 20.00 you will return to the port of the island where you will embark on the ferry to Rafina (departure at 21:30, arrival: 23:30). Transportation from the port back to Athens.
